Business Awards
a

Carrickfergus Business Awards 2004

The first ever Carrickfergus Business Awards culminated in a glitzy gala night on April 22nd 2004. There were 10 award categories all hotly contested. The following is the ‘foreword’ placed in the award brochure that was distributed to just under 1000 businesses within the borough of Carrickfergus.

Foreword:
There are many areas for potential growth in the Borough, in addition to the already accomplished and dedicated business and community groups we have.

This is a project to celebrate success. Carrickfergus has much to be proud of and these awards will recognise not just the companies and organisations that contribute to the energy of the Borough, but the people behind them which make it possible.

The Carrickfergus Business Awards are envisaged to embed themselves into the annual calendar of events within the Borough. They will become an instrument of reflection in the growth, vibrancy and community that Carrickfergus has in its continuing aspiration to reach new standards of excellence.

Stephen Millings – Town Centre Manager

We in Carrickfergus Borough Council are very pleased that this project has received such support from so many organisations across both the private and public sectors.

The aim of the awards is to bring together local businesses which excel in their fields. In doing so, we hope to establish a sense of place among our entrepreneurs and business people, a sense that Carrickfergus is an area to develop and grow, an area with great opportunity and sound business ethos.

The Council also offers its thanks and wishes to express its appreciation to all Carrickfergus companies whose work to create wealth and jobs in the Borough, contributes to a vibrant local economy.

We also admire and recognise the support of the Local Strategy Partnership. Their support on this project is a shining example of partnership approach between the Local Strategy Partnership, Council, and local business.

We hope this project will also encourages the competitiveness of local business, and strive further to beat the already high standards that have been achieved.

Mayor Alderman May Beattie – Presiding Mayor
