Carrickfergus Business Awards – 2005

The second ever Carrickfergus Business Awards culminated in a glitzy black tie gala night on October 21st 2005. There were 11 award categories, all hotly fought over. The following is the ‘foreword’ placed in the award brochure that was distributed to around 1000 businesses within the borough of Carrickfergus

Foreword:
I am delighted to promote the second Carrickfergus Business Awards. The overwhelming triumph of the first one ensured that these are now firmly on the regular calendar of events within the Borough.

Primarily, the awards are a project to celebrate success. Carrickfergus has much to be proud of, and these awards will recognise not just the companies and organisations that contribute to the energy of the Borough, but the people behind them which make it possible.

They are an instrument of reflection in the growth, vibrancy and community that Carrickfergus has in its continuing aspiration to reach new standards of excellence.

Finally, a massive thank you to all our sponsors. Your support, both financial and in kind, has ensured that the Carrickfergus Business Awards are a shining example of partnership in action.

Stephen Millings – Town Centre Manager

I am delighted to be heralding the second Carrickfergus Borough Business Awards.

Those involved in last years competition or who attended the 2004 awards ceremony will fully appreciate the value of this initiative. This prestigious competition recognises and rewards business excellence across all sectors, as well as enhancing the profile of participants and the region as a whole.

Given the Borough’s vibrant manufacturing base and thriving small business sector, we have introduced two new categories in 2005 – ‘Best Export Business’ and ‘Best Small Business’ – bringing the total number of awards to eleven. I would encourage all organisations, large or small, operating within Carrickfergus, Greenisland and Whitehead to consider the criteria and enter all appropriate categories. The winners will be announced at a glittering award ceremony at the Clarion Hotel, Carrickfergus on Friday 21st October.

I should like to thank al our sponsors for their very valuable support, and wish you every success with your submission.

Alderman David Hilditch – Mayor of Carrickfergus
